Born in Marion County, Indiana on May 24, 1831, P.T. Lambert lived in Decatur County from 1845 till 1854. He was educated in the common schools of the county. He went to Iowa in 1854 and returned to Decatur County in 1876. He was a farmer, merchant, stockbroker, real estate agent and abstracter of titles of real estate. He was the owner of the only set of abstract books in Decatur County. In 1951 Helen Klosterkemper bought the stock of Lambert Abstract Company from P.T. Lambert's heirs. Ms. Klosterkemper then sold her stock to Lou Ann Wheeler in 1956. Donald Plank, a title insurance executive from Oklahoma City, OK, purchased Lambert Abstract Company from Lou Ann Wheelers children in April of 1993.
The business is currently owned and operated by Doug S. Westerfeld who purchased the business from Don in September of 1996. Doug maintains the business with the same level of integrity and professionalism as the previous owners have done since 1870.
